Forming young professional leaders—from Los Angeles to the world

AUGUST 2022
The Piermont Residence was established in the summer of 2022 in the heart of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is home to eleven young professional men eager to be formed into magnanimous and selfless leaders. The men of Piermont form a tight-knit family, committed to serving one another and society.Within its first year, the young men of Piermont began to identify as true brothers, regardless of the length of their stay. Everyone who joined this family left with a renewed and invigorated spirit. One year later, in the summer of 2023, a close friend of Piermont felt inspired to continue its mission in Washington, D.C. Recognizing the need to serve young professionals there as well, he opened another residence for six men.In 2025, a Piermont alumnus arrived in Los Angeles and saw the entertainment capital as an ideal place to foster the same family spirit. After months of searching, the Del Mar Residence became a reality in the summer of 2025, bringing Piermont’s mission to the Los Angeles community.
The residents of Del Mar strengthen the residence’s rich legacy by contributing their diverse talents and backgrounds.
“If you feel the urge to be a leader, let this be your aim: to be last among your brothers, and among others, the first.”
— Saint Josemaría Escrivá
Del Mar seeks to instill in its residents a desire for ongoing formation, a magnanimous spirit, and a wholehearted eagerness to serve. These values form the foundation of the residence and leave a lasting impact on each young man—both during his time at Del Mar and long after he leaves.

When a person truly lives charity, there is no time left for self-seeking. There is no room for pride. We will find occasion for nothing but service."

“Residing at Piermont has been an incredibly rewarding experience, particularly in terms of nurturing friendships and fostering a spirit of charity. From the outset, I've been embraced by a vibrant community that has enriched my life in countless ways. Through shared experiences and genuine connections, I've formed meaningful bonds that have brought joy and companionship. Moreover, the ethos of generosity and compassion prevalent at Piermont has inspired me to actively engage in social life in Cambridge, whether through event organizing or simply offering support to those in need. Overall, my time at Piermont has not only expanded my social network but also deepened my understanding of the importance of friendship and giving back to others.”

“One virtue that I've made a great deal of growth in at Piermont is courage! It's not easy to ask someone to marry you - but when you see the example of men who live their faith boldly every day, fear of being rejected has much less of a hold on you. I feel more prepared to live my own faith proudly and pass that virtue of courage on to my children.“
-John
“The opportunity to do fifteen minutes of hard cleaning after dinner each night, the joyful celebrations we have on a saint’s feast day or on a house member’s birthday, the various impromptu moments to claim responsibility for some household task, and the warm house dinners each night, which serve as wonderful opportunities to invite new people and welcome those who are strangers: all of these opportunities which come with living in the Piermont house have shown me what it looks like to reclaim home and family life in time and a city where fast-paced workaholism is rampant. Furthermore, opportunities such as these have taught me how to live holiness and excellence in the most difficult setting to consistently do so— daily life.”
